And so it begins…Falling forward

I know, I know…it’s 80 degrees (finally), the sun is shining, you finally get to rock the pretty sundresses you bought all the way back in April, and yet I’m here to tell you it’s time to start thinking about Fall. You still reading? Okay, good. As much as I don’t want to be the bearer of *bad* news, I’m afraid it will be here sooner than you think. Fall, that is. I mean it’s the middle of August already?! Where does the time go! Well, if it makes you feel ANY better, Fall clothing has started to arrive here at Pearl and so far it all looks amazing! New deliveries from Brochu Walker, Vince, Theory, A.L.C., Lela Rose, Graham & Spencer, White & Warren, Autumn Cashmere have brought some of the most beautiful camels, charcoal greys, forest greens, and warm pinks that I have ever seen. I even caught myself longing for that first crisp Fall day and bundling up in a cozy Brochu Walker cardigan and my new Genetic bell bottoms (that I cannot wait to wear!). Yes, some might say it’s too soon to go there, but if I know one thing it’s that fashion doesn’t wait. So if you see something you absolutely LOVE, and I mean the you-can’t-stop-thinking-about-it kind of LOVE, get it. Don’t wait. Chances are it won’t be there for long. So when you’re good and ready, come in and check out what’s new. You won’t be disappointed. I promise. And in the meantime, happy Summer!!

Trunkshow Time…save the date!

I’m so excited to announce that next Friday & Saturday, June 17th &18th, we are hosting a trunkshow for one of our favorite designers, Alice+Olivia. What exactly does that mean? It means we will be showcasing a bunch of different styles from the designer (in this case from the Spring/Summer ’11 collection), styles we didn’t order for the store. Hey, we can only get so much! It’s a fun way to see what a collection has to offer and not just what we, the buyers, select. I’ve already seen some of the pieces and they are fabulous!! The thing I absolutely love about this line is the variety – there is sassy, sweet, sophisticated, sexy, simple, wild, demure…literally something for everyone. So come check it out if you’re in the neighborhood. And if you’re not, well then find an excuse to GET HERE!!!

Layer this!

If you were to look in my drawers you would find an abundance of one thing – white tank tops. They seem to be my can’t live without staple (a close second would be the long sleeve version during the winter). There are just so many uses for a simple white tank top – to layer under a sheer top, to add length to a shorter top, to add contrast, to hide your bra straps, to give you a little extra coverage, for warmth on a cool evening…the list goes on and on. And for Spring we’re seeing a lot of colors pop up – great for layering under a plain white tee. Here are some examples of styles we love (and have) here at Pearl!

Color Me Spring

The clouds have finally parted and the sun is shining. Ah, Spring. This is definitely one of my most favorite times of the year! I know, I know, me and everyone else who is sick to death of the cold and the rain. There is just something so invigorating about seeing everything come alive this time of year – the flowers, the smiles, and of course, the vibrant colors of Spring fashion. While there is still a strong neutral pallet out there with the nudes, khaki greens, rosey pinks and soft whites, don’t be shy when it comes to color this season. Like cool periwinkle, bright coral, tangerine, peony red, hot fuchsia, and kelly green. Those are just a few of my favorites, but really anything goes. This is the time of year when you should experiment with different colors – see what you gravitate towards and just go with it. And maybe you start small with a fun top or a sundress. Both can be neutralized very easily. For example, try a pair of white PRVCY jeans with a red Velvet cotton voile tank top and a tan Alice+Olivia cardigan to cover up. My guess is you won’t want the cover-up once the compliments start rolling in. You can thank us later.
